Belle Robertson

Virginia Belle Newbill Robertson, born October 15, 1932 to “PA” Berkely Berger Newbill and Lola David Newbill, traded her earthly body for streets of gold, at the age of 91, on Wednesday, November 15^th.  She was a devoted wife of 62 years to the late William Buford Robertson. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nora Grace Eggleston. Belle was a beloved mother to Mary Lou Gibson, William “Buddy” Robertson, Deborah Ann Ferron (Scott Curry), John “Johnny” Robertson (Tammy) and Timothy “Timmy” Robertson, a cherished grandmother of 16 and great grandmother of 28 and great-great grandmother of 10.  She was known as Momma Belle to all the community.

She was an unwavering servant of the Lord, credited with founding Penhook’s Free Saints Holiness Church (commonly referred to as “Belle’s Church”) in 1957.  She eagerly shared the Word of God in her church for 65 years and anywhere (and with anyone) she felt called upon to do so.

Her heart and home were always open and filled with love (and the best fried tenderloin and green beans this side of the Mississippi).

All are welcome to say their goodbyes at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home & Crematory Saturday, November 18^th 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held at Free Saints Holiness Church Sunday, November 19^th at 11:00 AM.  (601 Mount Zion Road Penhook, VA 241370
