Betty Brooks Wray

Betty Jane Brooks Wray, age 76 of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011. She was born December 16, 1934 to the late Ernest L. and Era Ayers Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Myrtle Brooks Amos. Surviving is her loving husband Clyde V. Wray, whom would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary January 7; two children Karen Wray (Ernest Yopp) of Glade Hill, Melinda Wray of Charlottesville; two grandchildren Darren Swihart, II, Jonathan Perdue; sisters Janice B. Holland of Glade Hill, Nancy B. Lambert of Charlottesville; nephews Robert Amos, Ernest E. Amos, and Roy L. Holland; aunt Rebecca Law; other nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law James Amos, Betty Wray Brown, Price and Estelle Wray, Paul Wray, Elsie Wray and Catherine Wray. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Ayers Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Janice Holland, 4495 Old Franklin Turnpike, Glade Hill.
