Charles Connie Moore of Ferrum passed away at age 75 on Sunday, November 27 following a courageous fight with leukemia surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Connie was born on September 14, 1947 to Gladys and Charles Moore of Del Rio, Tennessee. After graduating high school in 1967, Connie volunteered for service in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from the Army after his tour of duty. He worked as a talented auto body tradesman for several years in Manassas and Rocky Mount, VA before beginning a career with State Farm. His career in insurance lasted more than two decades where he met coworkers who would become lifelong friends.
Connie married the love of his life Mary Kay Fasick in 1977 and lived together in Manassas before moving to Ferrum in 1989. Their Ferrum “house on the hill” where they raised their four children was their dream home surrounded by extensive gardens and woodlands. After retirement, Kay and Connie enjoyed spending time with family as well as traveling in their RV which carried them cross-country to Yellowstone, Canada, and the Florida Keys.
The only thing Connie took more joy in than being a husband was being a father. He was an open and generous man who made those he met feel welcomed, loved, and fed in equal measure; and though he has moved on, he goes to rejoin Kay, his loving wife of 43 years. He will be dearly missed.
Connie is survived by his four children: Lauren and her husband Cliff (children Charlie and Eleanor), Hillary and her fiance Stephen; as well as his two sons, Matthew and Patrick. Connie also leaves behind many dear friends, extended family members, and loved ones.
The family wishes those who would like to honor him to consider a blood/plasma donation, or a monetary donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
