Charlie Blankenship

Charlie Blankenship age 96 of Sandy Level passed away at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Charlie was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Lane Furniture Company in Altavista. He was born October 1, 1922 a son of the late William Thomas and Bertha Perdue Blankenship and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Otie Blankenship, Roy Blankenship, Davis Blankenship, Myrtle B. Gregory and Ola B. Edwards. He is survived by his one nephew and four nieces, William Edgar Blankenship (Mildred), Clovis, NM, Mary Ellen Chaddha (Roshan), Ashburn, VA, Barbara Kidman, Vinton, VA, Jo Shelton, Eden, NC, Donna Johnson, NC. He is also survived by his caregivers who are like family, Greg and Shirley Roberts, Sandy Level, VA. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2019 at Mt. Zion Cemetery (Watersedge @ Smith Mountain Lake) with Elliott “Scottie” Scott officiating. His family will receive friends Friday, July 5th from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral Home and then process to the cemetery.
