Dr. Karen S. Bowman age 58 of Boones Mill passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
On December 28th 1966 the almighty looked down upon this valley and said I need a caretaker and not just a veterinarian. We needed someone who could be an amazing wife to a wonderful husband. A mother to raise four independent, strong girls. A veterinarian who was supportive of her clients and her patients. She loved all of us passionately and unconditionally for all creatures, great and small. She was loved by all those who had two or four legs, or even sometimes those with only three. She saw the light in the difficult cases. She was there for the beginning and end for so many. I know that she has so many familiar faces to see now. She lived her life to the fullest while doing so many of her passions. Passions that touched a multitude of lives. She supported her family in any endeavor they would take. She went to horse shows, swimming competitions, band concerts, conventions, trips to the beach, and provided the most love for us that is so dearly missed. She provided a home for the unfortunate animals with the support of her husband. She loved the time that she spent at the beach with her family. Her favorite times were taking her Rottweiler to the beach with her husband. When at work she loved supporting her clients and patients, treating them as close friends. Educating clients about their beloved animals and their care and needs. She showed every one of us how to care for animals and how to appreciate every single one, even with their flaws. A few of us were here for the beginning of her existence. A few of us were here for her start as a wife. Some of us were here for the start of her passion of being a veterinarian. Some of us were here as she started her journey as a mother. All of us are here now to celebrate her life for all of her passions. This is not the end. The end is nowhere near because of how much love she provided for every single one of us. How much love and passion there was inside of her now provides the sky the chance to be a little brighter even on the cloudiest days. She is still with us, smiling down on us as she continues to see all of us. Remember her with the same love and passion that we carry on from her. As all of us care for all creatures great and small.
As her family we would like to say thank you for all of the support that you have shown us and her over the years and to come. She was more than a veterinarian to most, she was a close friend who comforted pets and people alike. Words cannot explain how much we all miss her and thank you for the support you have shown her family. This is a difficult time for all of us but we are all here for each other. You have been there to lift her family and we greatly appreciate that. Let us remember the love and passion she had for us all as we support each other.
A celebration gathering, and visitation will be conducted on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. There will not be a service at this time.
