Elizabeth Ann Haven

Elizabeth Ann Haven, age 85, passed away surrounded by family on September 18, 2025 in Callaway, Virginia. Liz was born on October 16, 1939 in Hampton, Virginia. Her parents were Samuel King Helms, Sr. and Deloris Isabell Mooney Helms. Liz had two brothers, William Dempsey Helms of Tucson, Arizona and the late Samuel Helms, Jr. (Deborah). She is also preceded in death by her first son-in-law, Anthony Dean Doss. She was a wife, mother and her greatest desire was to walk with God.

Liz was married to Dale Lavern Haven on January 26, 1963. They were married for 62 years. She had two daughters Voyce Marie Haven Price (Ricky) and Lisa Ann Haven Doss Hughes (Walter). She had two grandchildren, Haley Doss Santos (Dan) and Drake Anthony Doss (Mallory). She also had numerous cousins surviving.Liz worked as a critical care registered nurse (CCRN). She worked at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse, caring for premature babies for five years. She also worked as a Pediatric Intensive Care nurse for nineteen years, caring for children ranging from newborn babies to 18-year- olds.She was a member of the Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia. She enjoyed learning about God’s word in the Precepts Bible Study class. Liz enjoyed western movies, radio sermons, coffee, and never turned down a shopping trip with her daughters. She loved animals and living with the view of the mountains.Burial will be at the Helms Family Cemetery in Callaway, Virginia. The graveside services will be held for family members at 1 PM on September 20, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Franklin Heights Baptist Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
