Elonza Tavinous Turner

Elonza Tavinous Turner, 78, of Franklin County passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kent Kera and Angie Brown Turner, sister Iris, brother
Joel, nephew Ashley, brother-in-law John.

Elonza was a Franklin County native and graduate of Virginia Tech. After earning his Civil
Engineering Degree at Virginia Tech he had a successful career with the Federal Aviation
Administration. After retirement E.T. (aka Oz) returned to the family farm that he felt was
heaven on earth. He enjoyed the beautiful setting in the community he loved where he was
surrounded by family and friends. E.T. knew no strangers and was generous in his time and
gifts, always looking for ways to make everyone’s life better and mood lighter.
He was devout man of faith who knew no greater joy than spending time with his family and
putting a smile on your face. The pride and interest he took in all of his family members fueled
his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Smith and her husband Dr. Maurice Smith and their children Sam, Iris, Austin and Jeremiah; Son “Jake” John Kent Turner and his wife Kelli along with their children Caroline, Cadey and Tavin. His sister Robin Cooper, husband Bill; brother Jim Turner and wife Betty Jo, brother Nathan Turner and wife Jessie, along with his nephews and nieces who he adored, Emily, Will, Ainsley, Anna, Andy, Dany, Natalie, Robert, Kimberly and Camille. His amazing friends and neighbors, especially Dick, Vicki, cousin Monty, and aunt Pat.

He was grateful for the great work and service of Scruggs Volunteer Fire & Rescue, in lieu of flowers, we would like to request donations to them at PO Box 844, Hardy, VA 24101-0844

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Pasley officiating. Burial will be private in the Turner Family Cemetery in Wirtz.
