Elva Pugh Harrison, age 94, of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009. She was a lifetime member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church and retired from Bristol Manufacturing with over 40 years of dedicated service. She will always be remembered for her avid gardening, dancing, and her Rook card games. She was born December 8, 1914, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida Crook Pugh. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Harold Harrison, of 54 years; six brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) and Sue Harrison; daughters and son-in-law, Nancy H. Stanley of Rocky Mount, Margaret (Polly) Basham of Roanoke, and Mary H. and Gerry Early of Georgetown, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; three special nieces, Esther Pugh, Gladys Anderson, and Ann Pugh; several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 with Rev. Burton White officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Flint Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Emily Smith, 2731 Booker T. Washington Hwy, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
