Evelyn Joyce Brooker

Evelyn Joyce Brooker, 92, of Rocky Mount died at her daughters home with her daughter Nancy by her side on Thursday, June 3, 2010. She was born on January 22, 1918, in Albemarle County, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lorena Dowell. She is survived by her son, John Brooker, Jr. and wife Peggy of Casper, Wyoming and her daughter Nancy Simmons and husband Donald of Rutherfordton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brooker, Sr., one brother, Clarence Dowell and two sisters Louise Ellinger and Virginia Wood. Joyce was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Greenwood, VA. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Rutherford County, P. O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. Graveside services will be held at Franklin Memorial Park, 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 6, 2010.
