Forrest David Bussey

Forrest David Bussey age 92 of Rocky Mount passed away at his home on Friday, September 6, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 18, 1931, a son of the late Forrest D., Sr. and Myrtle Lavinder Bussey. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Campbell Bussey; infant daughter, Mary Margaret Bussey; a son, Steve Bussey; his siblings, Iris Sink, Becky Renick and Wayne Bussey.

Mr. Bussey was a dairy farmer by trade and heart, a faithful member of Gogginsville Methodist Church, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid racing fan and loved his farming. His greatest joys of life were his children and the one's that affectionately called him PaPa, his grandchildren. He loved his family, his church family and the church where he was a devoted member. He will be loved always and missed by all.

He is survived by his children, Terry L. Bussey (Ginni), Melinda B. Bush (Randall), and Lisa B. Angell (Tim); grandchildren, Jakob Bush, Kaitlyn Bush, Rhys Lewis, Owen Angell, Abby Angell, and Steven Bussey; sister, Betty Woodford; brothers, Claude Bussey and James Henry Bussey. The family would like to say a special thanks to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their support, care and comfort shown and given to Mr. Bussey, and they would also like to give a special thanks to his devoted caregivers throughout the years including, Brenda Jones, Tina Perdue, Pat Hodges, Darlene Wray, Chris Perdue and many others.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Gogginsville Methodist Church with Rev. Kathryn F. Budzik officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The Bussey family will receive friends on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM at the church.
