Goldie Peters

Goldie Moran Peters age 77, of Ferrum, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010. She was born September 30, 1933 to the late Eldee and Etta Moran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by for brothers Flemon, Raymon, Stafford and Berkely; four sisters Sylvesta, Annie, Vernell, and Vivinee. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Paul Peters of Ferrum; daughters, Karen (Robert) Shivar, Sandra (Edward) Jackson, and Becky (Cleo) Sigmon; grandchildren, Sarah Jackson Chowning (Damon), Rachel Shivar Burden (Jeremy), Zachary Jackson, Emily Jackson, Mitchell Sigmon and Blaine Sigmon; great grandchildren, Atalaya Burden, Caleb Chowning, and Avery Jackson. She began a fellowship with Highland UMC in Callaway in her youth and continued faithfully in service at Maple Grove UMC through the years where she was a friend to many. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, helping neighbors, visiting with friends, and cooking for her family who loved to gather at her house. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Maple Grove UMC Fellowship Hall, c/o Debbie Scott, 6310 Turners Creek Rd, Ferrum, VA 24088. Funeral services will be conducted from Maple Grove United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Winston Crichlow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
