Harless Eugene Bishop

Harless Eugene “Gene” Bishop, age 72 of Boones Mill, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Floyd and Pearl Richards; and his hero father Harless G. Bishop. Gene was a very gifted and talented person whom learned a lot from his father. He was an exceptional basketball player, having received three National scholarships. Along with his basketball skills, he was also a shop foreman, electrician and a very good mechanic. Folks from all around would call on him to fix their vehicles, even up until the day he died. Gene enjoyed stock car racing and was a driver for over 30 years. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years Noka Bishop; daughters Beverly Lynne Bishop Clyburn (Mason B.), Tami Jean Bishop Bolin (Tommy G.); son Brandon William Bishop; grandchildren Brittany Jo and Morgan Ashley; great grandson Dominic N. Pires who was above and beyond his pride and joy; mother Margaret K. Richards Bishop; sisters Charlotte B. Smith (the late Dallas) of Blue Ridge, VA; brothers Raymond Bishop, of Beckley, WV, and Alvin Bishop (Leona) of Fanrock, WV; very special friend, Henry Hartman and Dr. Eric C. Bourhill, physician and friend. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV with Rev. Kenny Parent officiating.
