James Patrick "Jaybird" Ulma

James Patrick Ulma (Jaybird), age 49 of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026. James was born September 29, 1976 to the late Roderick and Patricia Ulma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Christopher Ulma.

James was a bow Hunting, trout fishing, true outdoorsman. He was originally from upstate New York, he loved to make people laugh and he enjoyed cooking, especially smoking foods like his signature ribs. He was very proud of his beautiful daughter Jaida

Surviving is his sister Pamela Marie Hanks; brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Rebecca Ulma; nieces Elise Schofield (Noah), Samantha Hanks; his daughter Jaida.
