John Reck Barlup, 49, of Savannah, GA, died at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta on May 13, 2023. He passed away in the presence of his loving family after a long fight with heart failure.

He was born on March 2, 1974, in Roanoke, VA, to Lola (Sue) Green, of Bassett, VA, who survives him, and the late Barry Reck Barlup of Mont Alto, PA. He loved his work as a cook but enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with
his wife. He was also gifted at writing music, playing guitar, and painting.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Thanpicha (Night) Barlup; three daughters, Kylleighan Barlup, Sydney Barlup, and Hazel Barlup; one grandson, Leif Ryman; three siblings, Barry B. Barlup (Egle), Jason W. Barlup,
and Katie B. Rook (Derek); his stepmother, Jean Barlup; one stepsister; three nieces and a nephew; many cousins, a few like siblings to him; and his mother’s partner, Roger Peters.

A celebration of John’s life is planned for Saturday, May 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Pier 16, Tybee Island, GA (1601 Inlet Avenue). Another celebration is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Ferrum First Church of the Brethren, Ferrum, VA (231 Woodcott Road).
