John Nieman Kressbach passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Cardinal Senior Living-Roanoke, Roanoke, VA.
John was born on December 27, 1933, the son of George Kressbach and Hattie (Nieman) Kressbach, of Monroe Michigan.
He attended Michigan Tech and graduated in 1956 with a degree in Forestry, and served 4 years in the Navy Reserve. Most of his career was with the Bell System in various locations, including England and France, retiring after 35 years. He married June Isreal in Calais, France in 1964. John was a member of Somerset Hills Lutheran Church Basking Ridge, NJ. He was a life member of The American Wood Preservers Association and The American Chestnut Foundation; he was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at “Camp." He also enjoyed traveling and hiking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June, and is survived by his three children and their spouses; Chantelle Hester (Jeff), Thea Fortune (Erik), and Mark Kressbach (Kelly), and six grandchildren.
Many thanks to the staff at Cardinal Senior Living, Roanoke VA and Wolf Run Senior Living, Hughesville PA for all the care and love they have given John.
Arrangements will be private, per John's request. He will be interred in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or a charity of choice.
