ROCKY MOUNT

Julie Cooper Wright

Julie Wright, daughter of Ira (deceased) and Betty Lou Cooper of Snow Creek, Va, gained her heavenly angel status after defeating cancer but suffering from post complications. She leaves behind her husband, Derek Wright, of the home, a daughter Allison (Steve) Joyce of Roanoke, two sons: Jacob Wright USMC and Jared Wright of the home, her sister Amy (Jerry) Chattin and their daughter, Valerie and son, Sam. In addition Derek’s side of the family, Wendy (John) Honaker and Stacey (Laura) Wright, nieces and nephews, Hana, Luke and Jordyn. Julie’s spark and big heart will be missed by many (“four hundred and eleven million”) friends of the family, colleagues, nursing mentees and her dogs and cats. Julie spent the majority of her life serving and caring for others having worked in nursing as a Registered nurse, team leader and recently the Unit Director of Oncology at Carilion Roanoke Memorial. But Julie was more than a nurse, she was an avid sports fan for her children, a hopeful gardener, a die hard Bon Jovi fan, amongst other vivacious attributes. We will miss her crazy antics, her ready to flash big smile and photo bombing abilities.

The family will receive friends at the home and welcome their visitation. In lieu of flowers, they will accept financial donations to assist with her vast medical expenses and to establish a scholarship fund for future nursing students.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 12 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. A memorial service to include the Nightingale tribute will be held, Tuesday, May 13, 10 am. Both events to be at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and Crematory in Rocky Mount, Va.
