Kathleen Mary Higgins, age 80 of Hardy, Virginia, passed away on Friday June 27, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1944 in Flint Michigan, the daughter of the late Richard Avery Babcock and Marian Elizabeth (Hess) Babcock. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Strazzini and her grandson, Patrick Braden Higgins.
Kathleen was a faithful member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church and retired from being a Corporate Relator and Relocations Specialist for MKB, Realtors in Roanoke, Virginia, working closely with her realtor friend Glenda McDaniel of Long & Foster Realtors at Smith Mountain Lake.
Kathleen was a loving, caring, giving and kindhearted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her sweet gentle spirit will always be remembered and never forgotten by all that knew her, especially her closest friends, Erika Brickey, Brian, Jackie, Sam and Emily Kinsey.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Richard W. Higgins, of Hardy, Virginia. Sister in laws Darla Whitcomb (Gary) Debra Weeman (Curtis) and families from Auburn, ME. Son in law Shane R. Higgins, (Pamela) granddaughter Ryleigh Higgins, from Chelsea, AL, grandson Ethan Brown (Katlyn) great grandsons, Barrett Lee and Beau Michael from Birmingham, AL.
Her daughter in law, Angela Higgins, from Clarksville, TN, grandsons, Stephen O’Hara, (great-granddaughter Lily), from Caribou, ME. Austin, Devin O’Hara, granddaughters Morgayne O’Hara, Trinity Falkner (Bryce) great-grandchildren, Liam, Montgomery and Harper, from Clarksville, TN.
Kathleen is also survived by her son, Timothy Strazzini (Danielle) and grandsons, Luca, Nigel and Colton from Rye, NY. She also is greatly missed by her sister, Janice Pignataro (Robert) from Asheville, NC and brother, Douglass Babcock (Sandy) from Dade City, FL.
Kathleen loved her nieces, Mindy Yaeger (Johnny) and Heather Woods (Gary) and all her great nieces, Amberly, Delaney, Sydney (Cameron) and Emery. She loved being able to visit them on weekends, bringing her dear mother, Marian “Great Grams”, with her. Kathleen lovingly cared for her mother for many years until her passing in 2016 at age 95.

A Celebration of Her Life will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. Will Waller officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the service, there will be a meal and fellowship at her church, Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 35 N. Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151).
