Kyle Edward "Ed" Goode, Sr.

Kyle Edward Goode, Sr. age 95 of Rocky Mount passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He was born on August 24, 1927 a son of the late Kyle and Elsie Brammer Goode. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Janet Richardson Goode, (married 1946 until their divorce in 1974); his second wife, Reva Whitlock Goode (married 1974 until her death in 2015.

Ed is survived by his son, K. Edward Goode, Jr., South Ogden, Utah; stepdaughters, Lisa Whitlock, Rocky Mount, and Sheree Whitlock, Rustburg; granddaughter, Kari Marie Goode, South Ogden, UT; sister, Ann Goode Allison, Locust Grove, GA; four nieces; four nephews.

A very special thanks to those who helped and took care of him his last few months especially his good bud Martha Bowman, Lena Sink, The Andrew Bowman Family, personnel at Franklin Health Care and Ben Morris.

Ed graduated Ferrum Junior College at 18 years old and started teaching High School Math at 19 years of age and became the school Principal and was a life-long Dairy Farmer.

He sat on many boards, committees and received several awards:

Franklin Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, 1973 – 2001, Bank of Ferrum and BB&T Board of Trustees, 1959 – 2000, Ferrum Volunteer Fire Department, 1959 – 1994, Melvin Jones Fellow (highest honor you can receive in Lionism) for dedicated Humanitarian Services Lions Club International Foundation, Franklin County Planning Commission, 1961 2002, JC Distinguished Service Award in 1962, Charter Member Ferrum Volunteer Department, Lion, October 1948 to December 2022 (74 years).

Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 PM.
