Lewis Brownie Brown, age 89 of Union Hall and formerly of Clifton Forge died Sunday, November 8, 2009. Brownie was a former member of the Glade Hill Fire Department and a Charter Member of the Glade Hill Rescue Squad. He was born July 24, 1920, a son of the late William Henry and Becky Rucker Brown. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Myrtle Becky Brown; brother, Elmer Brown; and sister Clara Downey. He leaves to cherish his memory, son Lowell E. Brown and wife Barbara Brown, Rocky Mount; his two granddaughters, Andrea Sobb (Christian, Sr.) of Alpharetta, Georgia and Carolyn Heinl (Ryan) Ontario, Canada; three great-grandchildren, Christian Sobb, Jr., Afton Sobb, Gabriel Heinl and soon to be great-grandchild Peanut. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; special friend Judy Palmer; and other special friends in the Union Hall area where he lived for many years. Graveside services will be conducted from the Brown Family Cemetery (Union Hall) 11 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 with Rev. Mark Deane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a local fire department or rescue squad of your choice.
