Mary Alice Adkins

Mary Alice Adkins, age 74 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Mary was retired from Gretna High School where she worked in the Cafeteria; she was a loyal Bingo player who loved the outdoors and fishing. She was born in Franklin County on October 14, 1936 a daughter of the late Pled and Myrtle Underwood and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Cleatis Hall; and her second husband, Clarence Adkins; a son Todd Hall; son-in-law Keith Turner; two grandsons, Steven and Michael Hall; three sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her children, Tony (Melinda) Hall, Jeanette Turner, Timmy (Tammy) Hall, and Gary Hall; sisters, Thelma Furrow and Beverly Gibson; her grandchildren, Kim (David) Hale, Jessica (Daryl) Hodges, Stephanie Perdue, Ashley (Sean) Wyatt, Tony Hall II, Jeff (Danita) Turner, Selena (Billy) Ferguson, Brian (Ashley) Turner, Chasity (Travis) Sharpe, Brandon (Donnell) Hall; great-grandchildren, Brighen, Zack, Delinda, Ryan, Adam, Amanda, Lindsey, Laiken, Matthew, Casey, Lauren, Chase; brother-in-law, Des Hale; sisters-in-law, Louise and Lucille Underwood; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loyal loving pets, Buddy and Snowball Adkins. A special thanks to Dr. Mallidi, Dr. Buck, Katie and all the staff at the Cancer Center, Nursing Staff on 10 South at CRMH and everyone that lended a helping hand while our loving mother, sister, grandmother was battling cancer. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
