Mary Jean Brodeur of 1245 Novelty Rd. Penhook passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus, at 11pm on May 20 at the Hospice unit of Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert, (Bob), two sisters, Myrtice Harnly of Tenn. Gloria Smith of Honolulu Hawaii and one brother Leon Robertson of Otter Creek, Bar Harbor, ME. Several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. 

She was born Sept.22,1959 in Manchester Conn. to the now deceased George and Mable Robertson. She was also pre-deceased by three brothers, George, Robert and Roger. Due to economic conditions Mary became a foster child into the care of Clyde and Dorthy Hazen of Andover Conn. Where she resided for 18 years. Mary attended Coventry elementary school and Storrs High School in Storrs Conn. Later in her adult life she attended an off-campus site of Zion Bible College located at New Life Church of Ledyard Conn. She was very active in 4H Western horsemanship and over a period of 4 years accumulated about 100 first place blue ribbons and trophies. Her and horse Butterball placed best of show two years in a row at the Eastern States Fair and Exabition located in Springfield Mass. Mary worked at several different positions over the years but her most favorite of all was being a school bus aide for Franklin County schools, with her driver husband, Bob, on bus 171. In the early 90's,together, they produced, directed and worked on a cable news program, The Right Perspective, a Christian conservative news and event program for 2 years. In the same time period were involved with leading a chapter of the Christian Coalition promoting Christian ideals and a conservative point of view. Later in the 2000 era she was a partner with Bob in a video production company, Bomar Productions, specializing in weddings and local business commercials. Mary was active in state and national politics, together they lobbied congress for pro-life causes and worked with the Norwich Conn. Catholic Diocese producing teaching and informative videos. The most outstanding attribute of Mary was that above all things, she loved God. Early every morning she would find her favorite place on the sofa, cup of coffee in hand, and study the bible. Mary knew God in an intimate way that would be evident in her knowledge of scripture and they application there of. Mary also loved dogs and would rescue those that were in distress, she leaves behind Cyrus and Jazzy. Mary's adult life was tormented by sickness and disease but she would never give up and persevered through life after losing her left arm to cancer. Mary will always be known as the fashion girl by many, but to her husband she will always be My Mary.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Franklin Heights Church, Rocky Mount Campus with Pastor Stan Parris officiating.
