Mary Catherine "Cathy" Feather

Mary Catherine “Cathy” Robinson Feather, 91, of Roanoke, VA, and formerly of Ferrum, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026.

She was born on January 24, 1935, to Ira Clark Robinson and Mary Madalene Carter Robinson in Earlehurst, VA. As a young woman, Mary moved to Roanoke with her sister, Jerene, and worked as a switchboard operator at the telephone company in downtown Roanoke. In 1958, she married Robert Zan Feather, and together they welcomed and raised four children. Over the years, they made their home in Roanoke and Burlington, NC, as well as the Rocky Mount and Ferrum communities of Virginia. Mary devoted her life to her family, finding her greatest joy in being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Zan Feather.

She is survived by her children: Stephen Feather; Stephanie Henly; Robert Feather, Jr. (Sandi); and Temple Altice (Marshall).

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Caleb Feather (Priscilla), William Henly (Morgan), Hayley Feather (Omar), Addison Henly (Kendall), Ava Altice, and Gabriel Altice; and her great-grandchildren: Cora Feather, Zander Feather, MJ Henly, Harper Henly and Lexi (Alex) Williams.

Also surviving are her siblings: Olin Robinson; Jerene Arrington; Leo Robinson (Betty); Marvin Robinson (Mary); and Glenna Dickens, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mary will be remembered for her sewing skills, the meals she lovingly prepared for her family, her steadfast love and devotion to those she held dear, and her deep love for her Lord. Her legacy lives on through the generations she helped shape and the many lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jamie and Naomi of Affinity Hospice; the staff of the Sheila Strauss Hospice House, including Danielle and Dakota, for their excellent care; and Beth Meeks Hornback for providing wonderful companionship over the past few years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, with Pastor Herb Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House in Roanoke (Good Samaritan Hospice).
