Mildred Hodges Law

Mildred Hodges Law, 88, of Snow Creek, Virginia, passed away on November 2, 2023.  She was born on January 15, 1935 to the late John Lee Hodges and Susie Ella Cooper Hodges.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Junior Law, her brothers, Ralph Hodges, Charlie Hodges, and Grady Hodges.  Her sisters, Irene Haley and Frances Zeaglar.

Mrs. Law was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and was a life member of the Snow Creek Rescue Squad.  She enjoyed serving her community and did so as a member of the Snow Creek Ladies Auxiliary and the Snow Creek Community Club.  She was also well known for her fresh apple nut cakes which she enjoyed gifting to many throughout the years.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Timmy and Annette Law of Snow Creek; her grandson, Mark (Katie) Law of Snow Creek; her granddaughter Jenny (David) Semenyna of Lynchburg, Virginia; and her pride and joy, her great-grandchildren, Karter and Talan Law and Boone, Callahan and Whit Semenyna. Her sisters Lorena Wright of Ridgeway, Virginia and Dorothy Rigney of West Point, Virginia, her faithful furry companion, Buddy and many special nieces and nephews. 

We would also like to thank her devoted caregivers, Amber Minter and Wanda Turner and her special neighbors and friends, Gerald and Betty Kirk. You will never know how much your care, love and friendship meant to mom and to us. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions in Mildred’s name to the Snow Creek Rescue Squad Building Addition, 7049 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, VA 24137.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Wood and Mr. Eric Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with her last and final call for her years of devoted service to her community. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at the church and other times at the home of Timmy and Annette Law.
