Mildred Love Young Gillispie

Mildred Love Young Gillispie age 88 went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 19, 2024 where there is no more pain or suffering. She was number 11 of the Love Bunch that were born to her parents Emmett and Julia Ellen (McGhee) Love on December 16, 1935 in the Briar Mountain Section of Franklin County. She was predeceased by her son Dennis Leon (DL) Young; spouses, Dennis Marshall (Jiggs) Young and Carl Gillispie. Also, her parents Emmett and Ellen Love along with brothers, Walter, Lee, Earl, James Love; and sisters Pansey Houston, Ruth Joyce, Glady Wray, Reva Harrison Young, Garnett Love; Nieces, Lisa Love, Lee Ellen Love, Brenda Joyce; and nephew Larry Wray.

She is survived by her daughter Denise Bryant (Ronnie), granddaughter Kristen (Ben); Her brothers, Cecil Love and Clarence Love; Nieces, Wanda Love Martin, Linda Love Wray (Alvin), Donna Wray; nephew, Wendell (Josh) Love (Pam); Great-nieces, Holli Martin, Julia Allaman (Chris) Hannah Wray; and great-nephew Thomas Wray; Great-great niece, Avery Allaman.

Her favorite color was purple, and she loved Ruffles potato chips. She was a survivor of many things, losing a child at a young age, polio and breast cancer . Many of you know that she loved to talk on the  phone as it was a favorite past time. My favorite story of my mom growing up was that she wanted something for lunch on a summer day. She found a stick, string, a large safety pin and bait. She caught a horney head fish from the creek near their homeplace. I admired her creativity and her resilience to keep trying during the tough times.

The family would like to thank Adreanna Jimenez for her love and care of Mildred. Also, Missy and Leo Tolliver, Doreen Beghtol and Timmy Mullins for always being there to help with Mildred's care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Franklin County Meals On Wheels. Donations can be made at 200 Dent Street, Rocky Mount, 24151. Please take time to remember the elderly and sick during their time of need.
