David Crook of Boones Mill passed away Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Pauline “Polly” Crook and grandparents, Joe and Omie Bailey and Letcher and Patsie Crook.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Crook.  Surviving is his sister Sandra Crook Thomas and a brother-in-law that he thought of as a brother, Timothy Thomas.  Also left to cherish his memory is his only nephew, Seth C. Thomas and his family Ashley and Adele of Hardy.

He is also survived by a first cousin and his wife and their children whom he loved dearly,  Junior and Carolyn Bailey and their children Kevin and Travis.  Special neighbors that he knew the majority of his life and loved were Joyce St.Clair, Gladys Spangler, WD Spangler and Charlie Spangler.  He is also survived by dear friend, Alvin Peters of Wirtz, VA.

He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Cracker Jack, his dachshund dog.

He retired from PYA Monarch which was originally Frigid Freeze of Salem Virginia.  After retirement, he continued to work part time at Duncan Ford.

After entering full retirement, he enjoyed yard work, woodworking and working in his garden until his health started to fail. 

David loved the Lord and although he was unable to attend church, he was a faithful watcher of many pastors on television and read his bible on a daily basis and had a wonderful relationship with God.

A graveside service will be held at The Bailey Family Cemetery, located on Bonbrook Mill Road, Boones Mill, at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 5th, with the Pastor Joe Dillon officiating.
