Peggy Scott Webster
Born on November 18, 1932 in Roanoke, Virginia, Peggy Barbara Scott was the youngest of three children. She was a gifted student in high school, and had planned to attend college. Unfortunately, she lost her father very unexpectedly when she was 17, so she went to work to support her Mother instead.
She met her future husband John (J.C.) at church and they dated for almost five years before marrying in 1960 and moving to Maryland. They welcomed their first daughter Elizabeth a few years later, followed by their second daughter Karen.
Peggy had always enjoyed working, but left her career behind when she had children so that she could be home with them. As with everything she did, she threw herself 100% into her family and volunteered her time and talents to countless organizations, including her children’s schools. She held the office of President of the PTAs at all three schools her children attended, the Homemakers of Today, the Prince George’s Science Fair Association, and the Presley Manor Civic Association. Her devoted husband of 65 years often volunteering right along side of her.
They raised their family in a wonderful neighborhood where they made amazing lifelong friends, many of whom they still see and keep in touch with to this day.
After the children were grown, Peggy returned to work, having a second career working in a DC law firm. She loved dressing for work and taking the Metro into the city every day.
After retiring, she and J.C. remained active in their community and with their friends. Often hosting people at their home because she really enjoyed cooking and entertaining. They were both thrilled when their Granddaughter Jordyn was born. Her arrival gave her great joy and another little girl to spoil.
Peggy Scott Webster was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many, and remembered forever by those she loved.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from Fairmont Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Nestor officiating. Her family will be receiving friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. before the service. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
