Peter L. "Roy" Frisbee

Peter Harry Le "Roy" Frisbee, age 90, passed away on May 2nd, 2024. Roy was born in Plattsburgh, NY and raised in Andes, NY. He attended Andes Central School where he was a three sport letterman in Baseball, Basketball, and Football and graduated in June 1952. Roy met the love of his life, Augusta McDonald, at a square dance in 1954, they wed on April 9, 1955, and spent the next 63 years loving one another. Their union produced three wonderful children, Debra (John), Nancy (Kevin), and Edward (Krystal), to whom Roy was fiercely protective of, and dedicated to. Roy was blessed with seven grandchildren, and then with an additional ten great-grandchildren. He adored his family, and constantly sought ways to spend time with them in any way possible.

Roy proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 through 1956, followed by his attendance and graduation from Alfred State College with a degree in Accounting. Roy then joined his father, Robert Lee Frisbee, working at Frisbee Electric in Andes, NY. Roy moved to Daytona Beach, FL in 1984 where he worked in management at Alfred Electric. Roy then moved to Rocky Mount, VA in 1987 and opened Frisbee Electric with his son, Edward Frisbee, until he retired in 2000.

Roy was a social butterfly that could strike up a conversation with anyone, and frequently did. He was often reminiscent of his youth and upbringing in Andes, NY, and could easily recount many stories of his friends, family, and the community as a whole. He was a dedicated member of the community, serving on the School Board, as a trustee and elder in the Presbyterian church and as the Water Commissioner. Roy was also widely known in the Rocky Mount community, perhaps better known as "Bebop" to many. A nickname that was lovingly bestowed by his grandchildren which stuck and was used by many that knew him. He could often be found making new friends and striking up conversations at Frisbee Electric, baseball fields, or even the grocery store.

Roy loved baseball. Playing it, watching it, coaching it. He once started a 16 and over travelling baseball team, and was forever dedicated to helping and developing young players. Roy was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees fan, and could always be counted on to recount and dissect the games when asked.

Roy was preceded in death by his Mother (Ruth Christiana Hanson), Father (Robert Lee Frisbee), Brother (Robert Frisbee), and Wife (Augusta Frisbee).

Roy’s family would like to thank the staff at Stanleytown Health and Rehabilitation, the staff of Carilion Home Care, Dr. James Maxey and Dr. Robert Swanson for their loving care of Roy over the last several years.

It was Roy's desire for his family to travel back to Andes, NY for a private ceremony and memorial. In lieu of flowers, Roy wished for donations to be made in his honor to the Franklin County High School Baseball Booster Club, located at 700 Tanyard Rd. Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
