Raymond Albert Powell, age 76, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010. He served in the United States Seventh Army Armored Division, USAR, and VA National Guard. He was a tank driver and guard on the Soviet border, stationed in Germany. He was a lifetime member of Redwood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Albert Powell and Doris Dent Powell of Glade Hill. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Audrey Lynch Powell; son, Tony L. Powell both of Glade Hill; two sisters-in-law, Frances Lynch Hall and Louise Hodges Lynch, both of Redwood; one niece, Kathy Hall Moore; two nephews, Teddy Lynch and Stevie Lynch; and many great nephews and nieces. He was blessed with many friends and neighbors that he considered his family. Funeral services will be conducted from Redwood United Methodist Church, 2 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 with Rev. Elwood Pack and Rev. Brad Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in the Powell Family Cemetery.
