Shirley Jean Meador

Shirley Jean Meador of Moneta, Va passed away Wednesday night, February 21, 2024, at the age of 81 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Shirley, known as Jean, was born in Eagle Rock, Virginia on September 4, 1942, to parents Cecil Walter Teaford and Alice Mildred Jones McCray. Jean was the youngest of six daughters and was preceded in death by her parents and older sisters Mildred, Alice (June), Janie, Janit (Cotton), and Mary.

Jean retired to Moneta from Troutville, Virginia in 2016 with her husband of almost 30 years, James (Jim) Meador. She is survived by her husband Jim, her children Freddie St Clair, Sherrie Laffoon (Fred), Jason Fisher (Andrea), her grandchildren Melinda Myers (Gordon), Bruce Laffoon (Arie), Caleb Fisher, Alayna Fisher, Preston Fisher, Leah Fisher, and her great grandchildren Ezekiel Laffoon, Esther Laffoon, and Ezra Laffoon. Jean lived and breathed for her family, to whom she leaves behind a legacy of love.

To celebrate the life and love of Jean, a memorial service will be held at 2pm Sunday, February 25th at Abundant Life Church located at 424 Chamberlain Lane, Salem with Pastor Tim Wright officiating.
